Royce Walker, a former FBI Agent, who’s opened a private security firm with his brothers, has always had the hots for the prim, proper Assistant District Attorney, but considered her hand’s off because of a family connection. However, when danger threatens Lauren, he isn’t willing to stand by and watch her get hurt. Now the passion for survival is only rivaled by the passion burning between them. And that passion, might just be the death of them both.
Lauren met Royce at his father's birthday party and they instantly had a connection. When Royce finally had the chance to meet Lauren properly his opinion of her changed. At first he thought that she was like all the other people who were born out of money but that changed later on after he had the chance to get to know her better. But how can he continue on pursuing her when Lauren's father hired him to protect her. With dangers lurking, will they still get the ending that they truly deserved?

This is the first book in the Tall, Dark & Deadly series and it mixes in romance, passion and suspense. Lauren was an Assistant district attorney and due to her job she has garnered many enemies. One in particular was threatening her, the problem is she doesn't know who that person is. With a high profile murder as her current case, these kind of distractions are not going to help her win that case. Then she meets Royce Walker who was sinfully sexy and unlike any other man she has been with.
The cover of this book wasn't that eye-catching and if not for the blurb, I would have skipped this book. This book started out great and it wasn't predictable. I was on the edge of my seat and wondering constantly who might be the person threatening Lauren. But towards the end of the book it started getting predictable and too fast-paced resulting in to the ending being too abrupt.
Nevertheless, it was an okay read which I would recommend to readers out there who want some action mixed into their romance books.
Received digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
