Review: Rock Hard by Nalini Singh

In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past… Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.
Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.
If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

Nalini Singh has been one of my go to authors whenever I want to read something that has paranormal and romance in it. So I was really surprised when I realized that she also writes contemporary romance. From that moment on I realized that I just HAVE to request this book on Netgalley and that's what I did, and luckily I was approved.

What I really liked about this book was the sexy rugby player/CEO Gabriel Bishop because of the fact that although he has a very dominant aura, he was always sweet and caring when it comes to Charlotte Baird.

Don't you just love it when you read a book where the woman practically tames the man?

Because I do. He was still domineering and arrogant but he shows a side which only few people can see whenever he's with Charlotte and that's really sweet.

Charlotte has been through a lot in life and that made trusting people hard for her and it was just so heartbreaking to read and see her experiences through her eyes. Because although she says that she's a coward and weak, from the things she's been through it's still a wonder she was able to continue living her life. I really think that some of the world's strongest people are the ones who never really realize they're strong. And that's what Charlotte is a strong woman who went through shit in her life and was still able to carry on. I really admire her strength and her overall character.

The romance in this book was very sweet and hot at the same time. It never really got to the point that I would classify this book as erotica, but it was still very hot.

The plot was very great since it also has a touch of thrill to it. I was constantly thinking that if I was ever in the position I would get a license to carry a gun because she always ends up in situations that I feel would be over if she just shoots down her aggressor.

There are special moments in a girl's life where she needs to shoot down someone and what Charlotte faced was one of those moments but alas she never really needed to do that because she had Gabriel to protect him, but not everyone is lucky enough to have someone protect them so being able to know that you can protect yourself is also great.

This book was really amazing and I cannot wait to read the next book.

Received digital edition from publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

  1. I just read at another blog about this book (or series?). I haven't read anything from Nalini Singh, but still was surprised to see her name in a contemporary romance. Maybe I'll give it a try!
