Fighting for his country gave Jake Taylor’s life shape and meaning. Now as an injured war hero he struggles to find purpose, until he runs into the gorgeous woman he dated briefly—and disastrously—before being deployed eight years ago. Turns out Jake doesn’t just need to figure out how to be a civilian . . . he also needs to learn how to be a dad.

Eighteen, pregnant, and totally lost, Mira Shipley couldn’t track down the soldier who fathered her child, so she put college on hold and focused on making a good life for her son. Now she’s determined to be something more than Sam’s mom, her parents’ daughter, or Jake’s girl—as hot as she finds her old flame’s take-charge attitude in and out of bed. Soon Mira and Jake realize that their passion didn’t disappear when Sam was conceived—and that instead of running away, sometimes it’s better to hold on tight.

Hold on Tight was a great contemporary read filled with passion and second chances. Jake Taylor and Mira Shipley had a short relationship before Jake would be going back to war, and that resulted into Mira becoming pregnant. After eight long years, they saw each other again and now they have to decide whether they want a serious relationship or not.

Finding a great contemporary book which is still honest is a very hard task, so when I was able to read a few chapters of this book, I knew I found one of the  This book took me in by surprise! I have read a lot of books with similar genres like this, and I was very happy that even if the plot wasn't that uncommon, the characters were the one who made it special.

Mira fell in love with Jake when she was 18 years old even knowing the fact that their relationship wouldn't prosper. She was a single mother and her courage and her willingness not to give up is one of the few things I really liked about her.

Jake was stubborn. It may have been bad at first, but his stubbornness helped him win Mira back.

But the character I loved the most was Sam. He was such a cute young boy who wad brave and had the answer to almost every problem his parents had.

Loved this book and cannot wait for more from this author.
